Cable Cars

The history of these cable cars goes back to 1873 when Andrew Hallidie tested the first cable car system. Actually back to 1869 when he had an inspiration for a cable railway. The fully history can be read at: Cable Car Chronology.
These days it's still used by citizens to get from A to B, but mainly serves as tourist attraction. On some days waiting lines are quite long.
The picture was taken at Powell facing the turntable at the end of Powell/Market Street. I'm sure I will get the chance to take some more pictures of these beautiful cars, "the city's only moving historic landmarks".

China Town gate

Part of the China Town gate on Grant Ave and Bush. Probably one of the most shot building or landmark in the city. I don't know on how many pictures I was caught accidentally, just crossing the street almost every day.
Now I jumped at the chance to take a picture myself.

Bay Bridge remote view

In the far distance you will see three Bay Bridge pillars, and part of SOMA and Downtown. The street in the right corner is Highway 101. I was standing on a pedestrian road crossing 101.

foggy day today

At least in the Castro neighborhood. The picture is a view of Corona Heights Hill with a layer of fog around. Later it got so foggy, that the stairs outside were wet. It's quite common that parts of the city are completely in the fog, while others are in the sun. But today it seems even normally sunny parts of the city were under a layer of fog.

Coyote Point Park - San Mateo

Coyote Point Park is a recreation area around 18 miles (28km) south of San Francisco. Besides picnicking, bicycling, swimming or jogging you can also windsurf (see picture). Far in the distance you will see the skyline of SF and once in a while planes arriving or departing San Francisco International Airport (see picture).

Lime

I know I'm too late for today, actually yesterday, Friday. But I just came back from this bar, Lime (restaurant and Lounge) on Market Street.

Victoria Theatre

The Victoria Theatre is San Francisco's Oldest Operating Theatre. It was build 1908 and became a Landmark. It's located on 16th Street and Mission in San Francisco's Mission District. This coming weekend the Victoria will host the Bicycle Film Festival, one of several Film Festivals in the city.

California Street again

One week later I took a picture of California Street from above. I was standing on California / Grant Ave taking the picture. Now you can actually see a bit the grade of the street.

Prada opening night

Prada opened a new location tonight on Grant Ave and Post Street.
